On the afternoon of April 21, our university and James Cook University held an online meeting in Room 609 ofAulinCollege to discuss ways to deepen cooperation. Li Shunlong, a member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and vice president of Northeast Forestry University, Marcus Lane, executive vice president of James Cook University, and heads of international exchanges and relevant colleges of the two universities attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Sun Zhiping, director of the International Cooperation Office.

Li Shunlong gave a welcome speech and introduced the development history ofNEFU, its disciplines and specialties, as well as the situation of Sino-foreign cooperative education. He expressed the hope that the two universities would further explore effective cooperation models in fields such as ecology, chemistry, materials science and information technology on the basis of the existing cooperation of theAulinJoint Research Institute. He also warmly invited Marcus Lane to take the opportunity to lead a delegation to visit the school and share the good news.

Professor Ronald White, the dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering at James Cook University, gave an overview of the university. He noted that JCU is a public university in northern Queensland, covering the entire northeastern part of Australia. In the 2022 QS World University Rankings by Subject, JCU ranked third globally in the field of Marine science and is one of the top universities in Australia; In the field of ecology, JCU ranks 23rd globally, ahead of world-renowned universities such as Yale, the Australian National University, and Harvard. The university is renowned for its innovative research achievements, and its research in ecology, chemistry, materials engineering and the Internet of Things has been rated above the world standard by the Australian Research Excellence Rating. It also has the first Huawei Narrowband Internet of Things Laboratory (NBIoT) in Australia.

Marcus Lane stated that James Cook University is a high-level research university. Its research in fields such as Marine science, engineering, and the Internet of Things enjoys a high reputation in Australia and even globally. Currently, the university is actively seeking international partners, hoping to strengthen ties withNEFUUniversity, jointly cultivate doctoral students, and achieve internationalization of education.

At the meeting, representatives of teachers and graduate students from the professional colleges of both sides presented their respective research fields and discussed future cooperation in joint doctoral training.
