After 67 years’ unremitting efforts, the NEFU faculty, staff, and alumni still adhere to the NEFU motto: Learn from Nature, Strive for Harmony, and persevere in the NEFU spirit of Unity and Hard Work, Self-motivation, Exerting Advantages and Striving for the Top. Since its establishment, the NEFU has delivered more than 160,000 graduates of various types to China and the world, playing an important role in economic, social development and ecological civilization construction.

The NEFU adheres to the philosophy of cultivating people and advocating academics and persists in quality, green development, innovation and cooperation. My name is Stuart McCutcheon, Vice-Chancellor (President) of the University of Auckland, and it is my pleasure to welcome you to our new Aulin College established jointly between Northeast Forestry University and the University of Auckland. Aulin takes the first syllable of “Auckland” and the first syllable of “Linye” meaning Forestry in Chinese a name that we feel symbolises the deep and meaningful collaboration between our institutions.

Since it was founded in 1883, the University of Auckland has grown to become New Zealand's flagship, research-led university, known for the excellence of its teaching, its research, and its service to local, national and international communities. In the 2019 QS rankings, the University of Auckland was ranked 85, the only New Zealand university ranked in the top 100. Furthermore, the University of Auckland was ranked No. 1 globally in the inaugural University Impact Rankings by Times Higher Education (THE). This outstanding result recognises the University of Auckland’s commitment to sustainability and making a positive social impact through its research, teaching and knowledge transfer.
