On the morning of June 21, 2019, the Open Day of the Aulin College of the Northeast Forestry University formally began. Hosted by Dong Hui, the Deputy Dean of the Aulin College, the Open Day was attended by Professor Liu Zhiming, the Dean of the Aulin College, Professor Sebastian Link, the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Science of the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and his team, as well as nearly 100 potential student applicants and parents.
At 9:40 in the morning, Liu Zhiming, the Dean of the Aulin College, made a presentation on the basic situation of the Aulin College, majors, teachers, teaching environment, what students can learn, and answered the questions of general concern. The word Aulin is composed of Au, a part from the University of Auckland, and lin, a part of Donglin, which is the Chinese version of the Northeast Forestry University. The Chinese version of the word Aulin represents sound cooperation and innovation of the two parties, and expresses the best wish of the Aulin College to its students that they will become gentlemen in the future.
President Li Bin of the Northeast Forestry University once said, “The Double First-class Construction of the Northeast Forestry University and the academic scientific research advantages of the University of Auckland will be conducive to the training on the students of the Aulin College. Here different cultures can be experienced, international horizon expanded, advanced education concept sensed and innovative cooperative ability cultivated. Professor Sebastian Link from the Faculty of Science of the University of Auckland gave a presentation on the theme of Leaving Your Own Mark in the World by the Aulin College. Professor Sebastian Link has confirmed that everyone has countless opportunities by his own stories and introduced the beautiful and livable New Zealand and the prestigious University of Auckland.

During the Q&A part, Liu Zhiming, the Dean of the Aulin College, and Sebastian Link, the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Science of the University of Auckland, answered the questions proposed by the parents on studying abroad, applying, English language training, tuition and living expenses of the University of Auckland, how to choose a suitable major, whether a major can be changed, whether postgraduate recommendation be available, and the differences on the first three years’ courses between the “4+0” and “3+2” cultivation modes etc.
From 13:30 to 15:00, the open lectures and presentations are made by the specialized course teachers of the University of Auckland. The open lectures are on English language, computer science and technology, chemistry, biotechnology etc.
